What Causes Leg Pain, Cold And Headache To A 11 Year Old?

Son, 11, complained about achiness in leg, played soccer today and twice yesterday. Then said he was cold, then had headache and felt feverish. Took temp. Temp was fine. Gave Tylenol, he spit most out. Later redness appeared on cheek and he fell asleep and was warm on neck and sweaty. He has not had a flushot yet.

It could as well be fatigue due to athletics or soccer.

Fever of 2 days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.

You can treat fever with Paracetamol at 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly if fever is > 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever as usually most combination medicines combine Paracetamol with NSAIDs and is not advisable.
