Hi,

Spotting before periods is due to hormonal imbalance and that's why your doctor have prescribed printout which is basically a progesterone to overcome the imbalance. If there are chances of pregnancy, take a urine pregnancy test for confirmation. If you are looking for pregnancy, her periods has to be regular first. If you don't want pregnancy then she has to take some birth control pill which will also regularize her periods.
