Hello,
You had a
pap smear done. Presently, you are having a light brown discharge after pap smear test. Some bleeding or spotting after a Pap smear is normal. Heavier bleeding may be a sign of another condition or issue. It should resolve reasonably quickly. Sometimes, such symptoms can occur for almost a week due to the scabbing that occurs right after the
cervix experienced trauma from scratching. It occurs in few patients.
This could be from a normal result of a procedure that harvested part of your cervix, as a Pap smear is designed to do. If this continues or worsens, then you should call your doctor urgently. Other health issues that can cause such discharge are cervical sensitivity,
cervical polyp, increased cervical blood vessels, friable cervix, due to taking BC, birth control pills, infections,
cervical cancer, etc. Take care of your hygiene, avoid sex or any other sexual activity for a couple of days. Stay away from addictions if any. If symptoms worsen, get a follow-up clinical examination done. Get treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
