Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have occasional lightheadness when sitting and generally feel run down. Occasionally wake up after 4 hours of sleep and can t go back to sleep. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism several years ago but am on lowest dose of medication. I have blood pressure readings in the 140s/90s. Recently discovered there is a distant family history of hypoglycemia. I have a check up scheduled in 4 weeks. Should I see a doctor sooner?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Disturbed sleep is one of symptoms of hypothyroidism. Disturbed sleep often leads to fatigue and tiredness during day. I suggest you to get your thyroid profile again to assess the status of thyroid functions. In case there is any abnormality in the thyroid functions, medication may have to be reviewed. Your blood pressure is on higher side. You need to consult your physician for clinical assessment of blood pressure. In case, you turn out to be hypertensive, you will need to start with anti-hypertensive drugs.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
