Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... About a week ago I had a very sharp pain in my heart that lasted about 5 seconds. I am 51 yrs old and have a past history of (mitrovalve prolaps) sp I had a brother die at age 25 of enlarged heart. I still have a very light pain in my heart area 5 days later. Should I be consered?
Yes it's important that you should consider to consult as cardiologist as early possible and get yourself evaluated. An EKG and a Echocardiogram needs to be done to see the current status of Mitral valve. As Mitral valve prolapse patients are prone to develop arrhythmias which if left unattended could lead to a medical emergency and also your brother died at a young age because of a heart issue. So you should undergo regular cardiac health check ups.
Wish you good health and luck
