What Causes Liver Pain After Liver Resection?

Almost 3years ago, I had a liver resection to remove a secondary tumour from a bowel cancer. This, plus surgery on the bowel, has been successful to date. In the last month I have experienced occasional pain in the liver area. I stress, occasional only. Could this be scar tissue from the surgery? A CT scan done in November 2014, showed that everything was absolutely fine.

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
We dont usually see such pain after so many years post surgery and it would be good to repeat cat scan or at least ultrasound to see if liver relapse or abscess formed. But also, some other issues may be considered such as pleurodinia or gastritis so these should be ruled out too by lung xrays and gastroscopy. Till this, try to have easier diet, and avoid alcohol. You can take nonsteroid painkillers for pain and apply warm compresses on stomach.
I hope I have answered your query. Wish you good health.
