Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 47 year old husband s blood pressure will not go down despite being on 3 meds. Also suffers chronic pain of unknown cause. Has been taking Metoprol 50 mg 2x/day for over a year plus Lisinopril 20 mg 2xday and Noravasc 5 mg 2x/day for a couple of months. Has had ongoing pain (sometimes worse than at other times) for years! He was bitten by a Brown Recluse on 6/28/2015 and took Vancomycin for about 3 weeks 2x/day. BP is currently 199/148 pulse 66. Last night it was 172/130 pulse 137. Has chronic pain and has been to numerous doctors including neurologist this week. None can pin-point cause. Has upcoming appointment with rheumatologist although went to one 15 yrs ago with no result. Right hand has been locked-up for about 30 min. (3rd time in a week that s happened). Blood pressure is really worrying me. He can feel it when it goes up high, too.
I think he should also try furosemide in the morning. Taking Advil for long time can contribute to increased blood pressure so he can use acetaminophen instead for a while. Also consult a cardiologist because it can be related to malignant hypertension which can't be put off despite medications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
