What Causes Low BP And Fatigue After A Heat Stroke?
I got very hot outside working last week. Temp heat index around 112 degrees. Doctor prescribes blood pressure pills...since i was 35 years old...i am now 54..... after the heat episode....i blacked out...couldnt see for a few seconds,got very weak....went to doctor blood pressure was 109/53....my normal blood pressure is 140/77....with pills.....she took me offblood pressure pills....still low at 119/53......got blood work done...all came back good....cannot understabd why it fell....and i still feel very fatigued.....no answers from my doctor.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Experiencing weakness and low blood pressure is a known phenomenon following heat stroke, which occurs due to hypotension. However, this fall in blood pressure is temporary. The body tries to recover back to normal in a couple of days. All you need to do during this period is to replenish fluids as much as possible by consuming water and fruit juices along with oral rehydration solution (ORS). You need to continue to take blood pressure medications as prescribed once blood pressure restores back to normal. Kindly consult Physician in this regard in case you need to clarify anything.
