Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have mitro valve prolapse. When I take my blood pressure (with a cuff-type device) I have lower-than-average blood pressure, but my pulse reading runs high. It seems as if the lower my blood pressure, the higher my pulse is. Tell me if this is normal. Thanks.
Low blood pressure will cause high pulse rate and vis a vis. That's the natural balance to maintain optimum cardiac output. However mvp is known to cause transient arrhythmia and you should get a 24 hour holter to make sure what the rhythm is and likewise treat it to prevent any future deterioration of the condition. Take care Regards Dr Priyank Mody
