Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Low BP, Diarrhea And Heartburn In A Diabetic Patient?
My blood pressure today is significantly lower than usual, and my heart rate is much higher than usual. My Glucose reading also significantly higher than usual. I woke up with mild breathing problems, diarrhea and heart burn. I am little dizzy and have mild headache. I am 71 years old with high blood pressure and diabetes, both under control by medications Is this just a common cold or something more serious Thank you.
The combination of low blood pressure and fast heart rate, along with diarrhoea suggests that you have become dehydrated, so much so that your heart is having to work harder to make sure your body gets enough blood.
Especially if you had a fever as well, you may be having a serious infection. I would suggest you be seen urgently to make sure you get treatment for this, whether it be IV fluids or antibiotics.
Your high glucose level may also be contributing to your dehydration or could be a response to infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
