What Causes Low BP While Having Hashimoto S Disease?
When should I consult a md about my low blood pressure? I took my pressure today cause I was feeling fatigued. It was 112/52. I ve had low pressure for quite some time sometimes lower than that. The lowest I ve ever checked it was 70/52. I do have hashimoto disease and was wondering if this might be the basis for the lower pressure. Wondering if it s something I need to be concerned about
A blood pressure of 70/52, is concerning but the reading of 112/52, is okay.
If your blood tends to more like in the region of the 70/52, then you should be seen by your doctor for assessment and treatment. Thyroid disease can affect blood pressure but if your hormone levels are currently controlled with medication, it is not likely playing a role.
Fatigue can occur with low blood pressure. Other symptoms are clammy feeling, dizziness, shortness of breath. If you find that you are experience repeated symptoms associated with low blood pressure then you should be assessed and treated.
Treatment may include fluids, increase in salt in take and in some persons, a type of steroid.
I hope this helps
