Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Pregnant at 36 weeks with low amniotic fluid. Have been having ultrasounds every three days. I have had a stomach bug all day - thrown up a couple of times - unable to drink. How concerned do I have to be that this will lower my amniotic fluid further.
Dear patient There are many reasons for low amniotic fluid level. Amniotic fluid is secreted by 1. Lining of amniotic sac 2. Fetal kidney secretion 3. Oozing from fetal skin. Any defect on this process leads to low amniotic fluid. Low amniotic fluid can adversely affect health of fetus. You should consult expert obstetrician and get yourself examined and investigated. All the best.
