Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is a freshman in college and she gave blood today on campus. The tech told her her blood pressure was low. My daughter did not give me the numbers so I don t know have that for you. My question is what causes low blood pressure? My daughter has been dieting over the summer and now into fall to look her best for college (her choice, not mine). Could this have anything to do with it. She is 5 4 and weighs about 125 pounds.
The lower limit of blood pressure is 90/60. Some persons have readings at this level or slightly lower and do not have any related symptoms. If there are no related symptoms and the blood pressure is not dangerously low, the no specific treatment is started.
The diet changes can definitely be the cause of the low blood pressure particularly if there has been a reduction in salt and fluid intake.
I hope this helps
