What Causes Low Blood Pressure?

I m a 57 yr. old female experiencing low blood pressure; in the past I have been treated for high blood pressure until the last 3 weeks. My GP has reduced all but one of my bp meds. I contacted him today and he doesn t see to be overly concerned with the fact that my bp has dropped dramatically in the last 3 weeks. It is currently 80/59. I am scared that there is something more serious going on.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
BP reading 80/59 mm Hg is definitely too low. It is better to stop the anti-hypertensive medication for a few days completely. Take good deal of fluids, preferable ORS (Oral rehydration solution) and other liquids too. If any symptoms like dizziness and blackout develop, better to visit a close by hospital and get treated. Such a low level BP can be dangerous. Good nutrition and fluid intake is vital. But constant monitoring of BP is also necessary. Thanks.
