What Causes Low Blood Sugar Levels And Pain In Pancreatic Area?
type 2 diabetes I was diagnosed with diabetes 2 weeks ago my bliod sugar 300. He prescribed Glyburide 12mg a day and Metformin (a build up from 500mg to 2000 in 15 days) I had low blood sugar(69 and 2 hours later 67, after drinking 12oz. soda) 6 days into treatment. So he took me off of Glyburide. 2 days later I woke up with hives under my arms and down one side. His physicians assistant took me off the Metformin. Stating my Dr. would be back in 4days. Well in those 4 days I had a low blood sugar 3 of those days. so instead of calling my Dr. I decided to go for 4 days and keep track of my blood sugar levels. Now I will have to say I have changed my diet. But I have had normal blood sugar checking several times a day with a few exceptions:1 high after eating a half of a candy bar and 3 times low. I was able to get them to come back up easily enough except today. It fell at work I was not able to check it. I drank 8oz. My. Dew and ate 2 small candy bars. About 1 1/2 hour later it was 87 so I drank a 18oz. My. Dew ate a handful of peanut m&m.. 1 hour later it was 93. Every since I got up this morning my side where my pancreas is has been hurting and I can t hardly have anything touch it without making the pain worse. I want to know if this is normal?
hello dear , it seems you are taking very high dose of sulphonylurea (glyburide) to begin with , which is one the major causes of causing hypoglycemia in the world along with insulin.so, go slow and gradually up-titrate the anti diabetic drugs along with regular exercise and dietary/lifestyle modification. continue metformin with small dose ( say 500 mg twice a day before meals) and check your blood sugars regularly. if required step up the doses and consult a diabetes specialist, to guide you. hope this helps.
