What Causes Low Segmenters And High Lymphocytes In Blood Test?
My son who is 4yrs old had a blood test yesterday. Here are the results: hematocrit-0.37, hemoglobin-120, rbc count-4.18, WBC count-7.2, segmenters-0.13, lymphocytes-0.78, monocytes-0.01, eosinophils-0.07, stabs-0.01, platelets-240. Why is that he has low segmenters but high lymphocytes? For past few days he had an asthma until now he undergo nebulization for the relieve of his cough. Thanks.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The lymphocytes are increased in several conditions, the common ones being: Viral infections e.g. Infectious mononucleosis Chronic infections e.g. tuberculosis Few bacterial infections like typhoid Neoplastic conditions like lymphoma.
You need to consult your doctor with the report for clinical assessment to look for any evidence of these infections.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
