What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain And Light Pink Discharge? Diagnosed With Stomach Flu
I am a fairly healthy 25 yoa female. I've had an IUD for approx. 7 years. (changed it when needed) I recently went to doctor for nausea, headache, and diarrhea and diagnosed with stomach flu. However, I started having lower abdominal pain on my left side. I noticed light pink discharge today-throughout the day. I also noticed my areoles are lighter than usual. Am I being paranoid? Should I worry?

Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Ivo Ditah's Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this discharge and the pain. I will advice that you get consulted by your OBGYN because every abdominal pains in a lady with IUD need a thorough investigation to rule out the possibility of an infection. It would be unlikely that an infection or abdominal pain would cause the areolae to be lighter in color. Let your doctor examine and tel us whether he thinks it is normal or abnormal
I hope you find this helpful. I wish you well and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Dr. Ivo, MD.
