What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain While Having Lactose Intolerance?

Hi, I m wondering what my symptoms mean. Yesterday I had lower abdomen pain all day, it felt like my intestines were inflamed/painful, it never let up all day, until finally I laid down flat on my back last evening and the pain subsided eventually. I have never experienced this before. Today I feel better overall but not completely ok. I continue to have some discomfort, my intestines feel heavy or something. I do have lactose intolerance, and I did have a little lactose on Sunday (the day before this problem) so I wonder if that could be it, or if I could have an intestinal obstruction maybe?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
You have past history of lactose intollerance ... also history of taking some lactose a day before you had symptoms recently point to diagnosis of lactose intollerance as the cause of your abdominal pain...here lactose can not be digested ...leading to symptoms inclusing strong colicky pain.
Intestinal obstruction have totally different symptoms... like abdominal distension...vomitting
Please try to avoid lactose food .(dairy products)... have naturally fermented food/take probiotics/digestive enzymes with lactase enzyme would make digestion of lactose food easier.
Consult a gastroenteritis for specific advise
Thanks
