Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my husband is 30 years old and is having lower back pain with lower abdominal pain plus blood in his urine. he does not have a fever. he has been to the doctor and had CT scans along with ultrasounds and blood work. they can never find anything. what else can it be and what else can be done?
CT and US tests can not detect anything. Your husband is too young to develop an enlarged prostate but prostatic hyperplasia can be developed in any age when hormonal imbalances are present.
Specific urology tests like ureteroscopy and cystoscopy may be needed.
An enlarged prostate and kidney troubles may lead to bloody urine and pain.
Your husband must do some urine tests to see for special cells and elements and the presence of crystals to exclude infection and urinary stones.
Any urethral trauma can lead to such symptoms and also the sex transmitted diseases are another factor. Although your husband has no fever some tests for infection must be done like urethral swab testing, another urine analysis and complete blood count.
My consult is to consult a urologist doctor and take simple pain relievers but never aspirin.
I hope this was helpful for you both.
Good luck. Dr.Albana
