What Causes Lower Right Abdominal Pain After Swallowing Toothpick?

I accidentally swallowed a toothpick 2 days ago and now I'm feeling a pinching sensation in my lower right abdominal area almost directly across from my hip bone. Is this possibly the toothpick causing issues in the intestine? Should I be paying a visit to the ER or can I wait for an appointment with my PCP?

Dear thanks for choosing HCM.

You should immediately visit ER. Most probably tooth pick has got stuck. The junction of small and large intestines is most prone for this and area you have mentioned is that junction.

An ultrasound scan will confirm the diagnosis and then treatment rests on surgeon. Most probably you will require a surgery. Endoscopic removal can be tried but a difficult choice in your case as it has stuck at the junction.

I hope my advise will benefit you. Please write to HCM for follow up queries. I wish you rapid recovery. Kindly hit a thanks once you are relieved. Thank you
