What Causes Memory Loss, slurred Speech And Headaches?

Last year an object fell from the ceiling hitting the front top of my head and both eyes. I blacked out for about a minute. I received a cut on my left eyebrow, lose of memory, headaches, slurred speech, agitation, headaches, sensitivity to loud noises, when I walked or drove in the car my head would spin, and I had raccoon eyes. Dr diagnosed me with post concussion syndrome. It s been a year and I m still have memory loss, when I get tired slurred speech, headaches, loud noises cause my head to hurt and the black eyes come back. What would be causing these symptoms?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The diagnosis of having post concussion syndrome (PCS) means that the symptoms of headaches, foggy thinking, hypersensitivity to things such as light and noise can take a very long to resolve. The length of time a person was lapsed in consciousness and the initial severity of the incident (i.e. hospitalized or not; fractured skull/orbit etc. or not, need for daily attendance to routine activities, etc) is the most significant determining factor to how long it may take for resolution of the problems. In most cases the majority of symptoms will have resolved within 12 months but there are cases where it can take up to 2-3 years for things to fully quiet down, and unfortunately there are some cases in which certain problems (such as headaches and their accompanying symptoms) can be very protracted if not permanent. I don't have any explanation for the "black eyes coming back"because that doesn't really fit the known picture or natural history of PCS but if you wish to take some photos of your face the next time that sort of thing happens and upload it to my attention I'll be happy to give you an analysis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
