What Causes Menstrual Pain After Undergoing Hysterectomy?
Do you ever have to have your ovaries removed after hysterectomy? Mine surgery was in 1994 I had no problems after my surgery . I knew when I was ovulating light pain nothing bad . I am now 52 and I have pain just a little longer then if it were time for my menstrual. Is there anything I should look for to know if I should have them removed. Thanks, Kim Coffman

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Menstrual pain after a hysterectomy can be caused by various factors, including nerve damage, surgical complications, and the development of adhesions (scar tissue) in the pelvic area. Additionally, some women may continue to experience menstrual pain due to the removal of the uterus, as the uterus plays a role in regulating hormones and blood flow in the pelvic area. In some cases, the cause of menstrual pain after a hysterectomy may not be clear and require further evaluation by a healthcare provider.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
