What Causes Menstruation While On Birth Control Pill?

Hi Doc! I would like to ask regarding my menstruation,I had my menstruation last month of 28th of June and I took a pill last 18th of July so I expected that I will not having my period this month unless I finished my birth control but then today, 27 July I had my first day of period. What I would like to ask are, What is the cause of having a menstruation while you re on pills? Am I still safe to have an intercourse?

Hello,

If you did not miss any pills very likely you are safe to have intercourse. On the other hand, I would advise you to have a pregnancy test to rule out that you are pregnant already.
If the pregnancy test is negative then very likely there is nothing to worry about. Sometimes bleeding may happen when women use oral contraception.
If the irregular bleeding continues the next month as well please see your doctor and have a proper check to rule out structural problems as the cause of the bleeding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
