Hi,
Migraines, as you would know, can be very debilitating. There are many triggers to worsening migraines, they vary from one person to the next. The most common triggers would be- increased physical or emotional or mental
stress,
dehydration, lack of adequate sleep,
hormonal changes, environmental changes and certain foods- cheese, chocolate, caffeine, excess screen time. missed meals, alcohol
A migraine diary might help you figure out what your particular trigger or triggers may be and help you to avoid it. These are available online. The fact that you have nose bleeds may mean that changes in the environment, may be playing a role.
There are medications that can be used to prevent migraine attacks, they are used in persons with severe or frequent attacks, where there is significant impact on work or personal life or if there is lack of response to normal pain medication or side effects. You may want to consider speaking to your doctor for preventative meds if they are very overwhelming, about which they can be.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson, General & Family Physician
