Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Migraines And Ringing In Ears After Implanting Defibrillator?
Is it normal for an implanted defibrillator to shock you 10-12 times in a row? That is what the tech reported to me when he ran the test after being taken to the hospital.. Also, since then i have had migraines and ringing in my ears, is that related to the shocks? Thank you.
It is not usual for an ICD to shock you 10-12 times, as the ICD is programmed normally to deliver 5-8 shocks in a single event. Very rarely there may be headache or even tinnitus after shock, but this should not last long. However, if you are having an attack of migraine, then headache can be a bit long and also the tinnitus may be present with it.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
