What Causes Migraines, Coughing Up Blood And Shooting Pain In Body?

Hello. Our son just texted us from NYC and says he has been having migraine headaches for 4 days now. At one point he coughed up blood and claims that he had shooting pain that ran from his foot all the way to his head. We ve tried to call him to get more specifics but he hasn t answered us yet. Could this be something serious. Should he be heading for the ER or can we suggest something to help. We recommended hydration and sleep. He is a bit stressed right now with work and life. Thanks for anything you might help us with.

In order to help you further i will need more information about your son's health like Is he on any medicines? Doe he have any other complaints like chronic cough,fever? How much blood did he cough a few streaks of blood ,spoonful,cupful and how many times?Has he been in any recent accident or had any injury?

The general impression with the limited information in your question i can estimate that your son is conscious ,had coughed some streaks of blood and have some condition that is causing him body pain.
If the blood cough is less than spoonful and less than 1-2 times then its probably related to forceful coughing and need medicines to treat his cough than worry about blood. If however the blood coughed is more than spoonful then he will need to be examined by a local doctor. For his head ache/body pain a simple painkiller like ibuprofen will be good for this purpose.
