What Causes Mild Sore Throat And Unusual Taste At Back Of Throat?

Hi, I have a minor sore throat for the past few days, along with a constant bad taste at the back of my throat (having to clear my throat regularly due to the phlegm). I have also noticed an enlarged foliate papillae at the base side of my tongue. Is this anything to be concerned about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are having acute pharyngitis that is inflammation of posterior pharynx. It could be viral infection probably. You can take decongestant like Levocetirizine for relief from congestion. I suggest you to do diluted Betadine gargles three times a day. Take more water and avoid taking oily and spicy foods. If no improvement than investigate further with CBC.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
