What Causes Mold In Sinuses?

Yes, I had sinus surgery about 2 years ago and they found mold in my nose. Since the surgery I have had a bad smell in my nose. And I occasionally blow out green looks like clots and they smell horrible. How do I know if all the mold was retrieved during surgery. I don't feel like the surgery helped at all.

Green color mucus or mold is often seen with a fungal infection. The commonest cause of green color mucus is usually a pseudomonas infection.

The mucus can also be cultured by sending to the laboratory. Post this, a cause can be determined. It would be a good idea to mention this to your doctor.

Based on your description, it sounds like you have gotten a FESS(functional endoscopic sinus surgery). This is the best type of surgery for most people and most people would recover or the symptoms that reduce with time.

In case the symptoms persist, seeing your ENT specialist would be a good idea as well.
