Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son-in-law has bad nausea when he sits or rides in a vehicle. He is fine standing. This is new for him.....however, he had a whipple surgery in Sept......gallbladder and appendix removed, and a mass removed from his pancreas, stomach, and some from his liver. He can t get in to the specialist until June.
Motion sickness is a common problem and it has no relation to Whipple surgery. Cinnarizine or hyoscine tablets are the first choice for shorter journeys. Promethazine is the first choice for longer duration journeys.
All these medications should be taken at least 1 hour before the journey. Sit him in the front seat of the car or bus. Give him chewing gum during the journey. Keep windows open if possible keep him hydrated throughout the journey.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
