What Causes Mouth Ulcers While On Keflex For Salivary Gland Infection?
My 73 year old husband was diagnosed with mono. He has had it for over six weeks. He is still very exhausted, he has an infected salivary gland, and now has blisters in his mouth. He has been taking Keflex for almost 10 days for the gland infection. The swelling has gone down some, but he just doesn't seem to be improving. Help!!
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that your mother is suffering from Apthous Ulcers and it seems that it is a side effect of antibiotic Keflex that she took for Salivary Gland infection.. Nothing to worry as when the intake of antibiotics will be stopped the ulcers will resolve gradually.. I would suggest that she should take Multivitamin supplements.. Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve pain.. Anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen can be taken.. You should do warm saline gargles.. Avoid spicy food and take a soft bland diet.. Drink plenty of water and maintain a good Oral hygiene.. In case if the ulcers still does not resolve consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
