Dear Jozep this is the problem of sialorrhoea (excessive saliva production). the various causes are Painful oral lesions, Parkinson’s disease, Foreign bodies in the oral cavity, Drugs like Anticholinesterases, sedative like Benzodiazepines etc. in eldely Elderly people due to dementia may forget to swallow their saliva and may hence drool. The presence of caries tooth, or gingival infection may accentuate drooling.Drugs used in the management of drooling generally cause a reduction in the amount of saliva secreted and is trihexyphenidyl. kindly get your orodental hygeine checked up from dentist. otherwise you can brush twice daily, mouth gargle with Hexidine mouth wash, avoid excessive use of sedative (if taking) as they decrease muscle coordination. if nothing improves pl consult your physician Take care
