What Causes Muscle Ache Along With Night Sweats And Stomach Cramps?
My husband has been on statins for 4 years. About a year ago he started experiencing muscle pain and it s been getting progressively worse. Also has cramping, stomach pain and night sweats. He went off statins for 2 weeks and symptoms didn t change. How long should a person stay off statins to see if they are causing these symptoms?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Though the statins could possibly been the cause of the muscle pain, they do not usually cause stomach cramping and night sweats, though medication effects can vary from one person to the next.
There was one medical study that found that the pain related to statins continued up to 6 months after the persons discontinued the medication. This occurred in 30% of persons in that particular study.
It is possible that your husband is also experiencing delayed relief as well.
I hope this helps.
