What Causes Muscle Cramps In The Legs After Taking Doxycycline Hyclate?
I was prescribed doxycycline hyclate 100 mg. I experienced lack of hunger, stomach pain, headache, and severe muscle cramps in my calves. I had to stop the med. The pain in my legs continues and is severe. I cannot find anything indicating muscle aches as side effect but I did not have this until taking the med.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Stomach pain, headache, and severe muscle pain/cramps are some of the described side effects of doxycycline. Before prescribing a drug, your Doctor will always evaluate its risks and benefits.Stopping the drug without the consent of your Doctor is not good. This may create germ resistance to this molecule given that it is an antibiotic.I will suggest you complete you duration of treatment. Persistence of pain after stopping the drug may suggest the pain could be caused by some other medical condition and just a coincidence it happened when you were on doxycycline.I will suggest you complete the dose of your treatment, add a pain drug like ibuprofen to your drug. If symptoms persist, you see the Doctor for evaluation. Hope this will help Best regards
