What Causes Muscle Cramps In The Right Leg?

I have been experiencing muscle cramps in my right leg now for months. They are getting worse and now are present all day. It doesn t matter if I m standing or sitting. It runs from my thighs to my toes. I thought it was due to dehydration, but even after drinking more water it is still getting worse.

Hello,

Muscle cramps might occur due to improper circulation to the leg also. If you have prolonged immobilized the leg then the circulation of that part would have been hampered and then can cause severe pain due to the metabolites released from that part. If you have nerve compression, then that also causes pain which radiates like how you have described above. So we need to evaluate what is the etiology of the problem you have by asking some leading questions. For both, you can use compression stockings which is the best which will improve the circulation of the limb. You can start exercising the limb day by day more and can get relief from pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
