Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a feeling of nausea 5 days ago with 103 fever. I did not move or eat for 24 hrs. The fever came down after 24 hrs, but I have ran 99 to 99.5 everyday since and now I have diarrhea. Is it just a stomach bug. I thought after 6 days it should be gone
Unfortunately a 'stomach bug' can last a few weeks in some persons though this is rare.
As it relates to the diarrhea, you may need to consider the following: (1) holding off all solid food till there is 4 hour window with no symptoms
When this 4 hour period occurs, dry foods such as toast, biscuits, plain rice, can be used. If you eat before the bowel is ready then this may prolong the diarrhea
(2)It is very important to use enough fluids to replace the fluids that you are losing
(3)probiotics may help
I hope this helps
