What Causes Nausea And Tinnitus On Using Otic Ear Drops For Itching?

Have been given Otocomb-Otic ear drops for itchy ears. Have previously suffered from Menier s and left ear was damaged. Tried only with right ear and felt discomfort in ear after 12 hours but only for short time. Used 1 drop again 24 hours later and subsequently suffered horrible nausea and increased tinnitus. At same time I have just stopped taking anti-depressants. Lots of clanging in head. But it s the nausea that really worries me and the possibility of harming the ear not affected by Meniere s. Would appreciate your advice please.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have nausea and tinnitus on using Otic ear drops for itching. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case the probably reasons for symptoms are ear infection , wax build up and allergic reaction . I would suggest you to stop using those earphones or clear then with betadine and consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order test like blood test for allergy and examination with otoscope . Doctor may also order hearing test. For now apply warm dry compresses to external eat and keep your ear dry. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) , anti allergic or corticosteroid ear drops along with sedatives and supplements like ginkgo biloba.
