What Causes Nausea And Vomiting When Suffering From Lupus?

Hi, I have lupus/mixed connective tissue disease/Crest/ dysmotility. I have been having bad nausea and vomiting since January. I await gastric emptying study results. Over weekend when I bent over at waist, vomit came up to my mouth. Tonight I had water/mucus come out instead of bowel. It was spontaneous. I dont know what to do. Thank you.

Hello,

A few probable causes of your symptoms are lupus enteritis (where the lupus has affected the gastrointestinal tract), lupus mesenteric vasculitis (where the mesenteric blood vessels are affected by lupus), side effects of medications that are used to treat lupus or regular gastroenteritis.

Please do report your symptoms to your treating physician as soon as possible. Take tab. Vomikind twice daily to prevent vomiting. Avoid fatty and spicy foods. Avoid lying down for 2 hours after eating a meal.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
