What Causes Nausea And Vomiting?

My mother is a female of 46, we ve just been to a theme park. She was feeling fine until she got back to the hotel room at 9:50 PM. At the park, she had these chicken fingers that were burned on the outside, had this strange gooey layer before the chicken and the chicken was completely dry. She didn t have any symptoms then. At dinner today, which was from 6:40 through 8:00, she had nachos with cheese and a chicken salad. She had no symptoms then either. We went back to the hotel and she had two drinks of gin. When she got back to the hotel room her only symptom was nausea. She vomited a few minutes ago and it lasted around 2 minutes. She says she feels fine now but I don t know.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this-

1)Do a detailed clinical examination by your family Doctor and do a stool exam[RE/ME]to confirm it.

2)Do take [ORS] fluids after every vomit to prevent dehydration and discuss prescription medications like [pantoprazole + domperidone]for vomiting and [metronidazole + norfloxacin]for diarrhea.

Do follow few lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Try to wash your hands, utensils and food surfaces often. Wash your hands well with warm, soapy water before and after handling or preparing food. Use hot, soapy water to wash utensils, cutting boards and other surfaces you use.

2)Keep raw foods separate from ready-to-eat foods. When shopping, preparing food or storing food, keep raw meat, poultry, fish and shellfish away from other foods.

3)Cook foods to a safe temperature. The best way to tell if foods are cooked to a safe temperature is to use a food thermometer. You can kill harmful organisms in most foods by cooking them to the right temperature.

4)Refrigerate or freeze perishable foods promptly within two hours of purchasing or preparing them. If the room temperature is above 32.2 C, refrigerate perishable foods within one hour.

5)If you aren't sure if food has been prepared, served or stored safely, discard it. Food left at room temperature too long may contain bacteria or toxins that can't be destroyed by cooking. Don't taste food that you're unsure about just throw it out.

Hope that helps
