Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Nausea, Salty Taste In The Mouth And Right-sided Abdominal Pain?
My mother in law has nausea and gets a salty taste I. Her mouth. She has been getting right sided abdominal pain and pain in the center of her stomach. She had an ultra sound and they said no gallstones or ulcers were found. She says eating chocolate makes it worse.
I can understand your concern. It seems that your mother-in-law is suffering from hyperacidity or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) where the acid in the stomach is regurgitated in the foodpipe and then in the mouth bringing bad taste with it. It worsens by eating chocolates is also a sign of GERD.
I would advise her to start with the antacid such as Ranitidine Hydrochloride (Zinetac) 150 mg twice a day for about 10 days. She can also start Digene syrup 10 ml 3-4 times a day especially after meals and before bedtime. She should keep 3 hours gap between dinner and bedtime and should avoid food items causing acidity such as tomatoes, citrus fruits, chocolates etc.
If she does not feel better regarding the bad taste in mouth and stomach ache in 10 days, then a gastroenterologist should be seen.
I hope this information helps her. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish your mother-in-law feels better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
