Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am 17 years old, 5"3, i weigh 102 llbs now, i used to weigh around 110 llbs, but for the past 2-3 weeks i have been feeling very nauseous, sometimes vomiting, cant eat that much, sometimes its really hard to go to the bathroom, and sometimes i have black stool, (its kind of scaring me, ive never had that before) i've recently went for blood tests , and a urination test thing, but i've gotten no calls back from it. i have also recently changed my birth control two months ago, from yazmin to ortho tri-cyclen could it be that or something more serious?
sometimes side effects of medication can cause nausea. typically oral contraceptives do not cause vomiting or that severe of decreased appetite to cause 8 lb weight loss. The dark stools can be due to medications (iron, pepto bismol) eating steaks, etc but in your setting could be related to GI bleeding from ulcer in stomach or first part of intestines. I would consider seeking evaluation from family doctor and discussing symptoms further to see if you need colonoscopy/endoscopy to evaluate. They can do stool studies to test your stool for infection and blood.
