What Causes Neck Pain In Case Of An Ear Infection?

I've had an ear infection since last Wednesday. I got prescribed abx Thursday. The pain got worse and worse; so bad i had to go to the ER. They gave me benzocaine ear drops and a muscle relaxer. I mad an appointment with my doctor today and he told me i have fungus on my ear drum. I cannot hear of that ear right now. I have pain above my ear, the side of my neck and a little bit in my shoulder area. How long will it take for this to go away? And is the neck pain normal for fungus infection of the ear?
