What Causes Nerve Pain In The Leg And Knee When Suffering From Hypertension?

My friend is experiencing severe nerve pain in his left leg and knee area. hes having neuropathy like sensations in his left hand as well. he has hypertension where his left leg draws up not allowing him to straighten it completely out. both legs are cold to the touch from the knees down. all of this resulted from a fall from a 30 inch chair that he was trying to sit into at the time. he does have high blood pressure but otherwise is a healthy 58 year old man...he has had a ct that showed no signs of stroke or seizure like activities. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about your friend having hypertension, fall from a chair, normal CT scan but has nerve like pains in leg and knee.
This may well be related to fall as he might have sustained injury to the lower spine.
This can be diagnosed by the following ways.
Take him to the regular Physician for checkup to have a preliminary diagnosis.
Can get a referral to a Specialist like Neurosurgeon.
MRI of the lower spine.
Nerve conduction studies.
Control of hypertension.
Get started on proper nerve medications.
Surgery if there is any slipped disc or so that is causing nerve compression.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
