What Causes Night Sweats And Low Grade Fever While Suffering From COPD?

Husband is 65 year old with COPD but otherwise in good health. For 3 weeks he has had night sweats, low grade fever (99 - 99.8) and swollen ly mph nodes under both arms which have increased in size and tenderness. He is a VA patient and cannot be seen until later this week. Should I get him in to see someone before then?
