What Causes Nose Congestion And Severe Fatigue?

Hi, just looking for possible answers.. I work in a daycare so I go to work andcome home with everything. I have been struggling with a nasty head cold for over a month now. From nasal congestion that will not go away. And just when I think I am getting better, I end up with pretty bad exhaustion. This is two weekends now where I have no energy to do anything, I have a loss of energy and jjust want to sleep. I just want to get better, my fiance and I have been trying to conceive now for over a year and a half now and I have a feeling that my health is what has been ruining y chances of conceiving. I have tried taking Buckley s and that did not work. Would you recommend something that I could take that does not contain ASA, Penicillin, Azithromycin, or Clarithromycin. (I think that is how you spell it) those are my allergies

Hello,

Your symptoms make me think of chronic rhinosinusitis. As you work in a day care, risk of repeated viral infections is present.

The following medical treatment is usually recommended:
1) Tablet Sinarest or tablet Wikoryl twice daily for maximum of 7-10 days
2) Nasal decongestant sprays like Oxymetazoline, Xylometazoline for maximum of 5 days
3) Steam inhalation 2 times a day
4) If any Eosinophilia or allergy history, tablet Monteleukast once daily at night for 6 weeks
5) Regarding antibiotic, you can go for Fluoroquinolone group - Levofloxacin 500mg once daily, for 10 days.

Even with the above mentioned treatment for 10-14 days if no improvement is seen, you can go for surgical modality.

FESS (Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery) is a very good option with the following salient features:
1) Very good cure rate
2) Very less complications
3) Hospital stay is only 1-2 days
4) Less chance of recurrence

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi.m
