Dr. Hanif warmly welcomes you!
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic HCM. I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I want to assure, I will take care all of your medical concerns.
As a result of fall, there is a physical trauma to the nose that leads to the bleeding. To understand this, we have to know the anatomy of this area of face. The nose and
upper lip comes in a triangular area known as the danger area of the face. This area has a huge blood supply and minor trauma to the nose even with nose picking sometimes leads to the bleed.
No worries for it was only blood and nasal mucosa was all which bled. The matter of clinical worry and concerns comes with
head injury when there is deep impact on the front portion of the base of the skull where there is a fenestrated sieve like bony partition between the brain and the
nasal cavity (the cribriform plate). If there is a
fracture of the cribriform plate, it leads to CSF i.e.
Cerebrospinal fluid (brain is floating in this fluid all around) to drip down from the nose due to trauma and rupture of the membranous coverings safeguarding the CSF in the brain Ventricles.
Final and simple suggestion:-
No worries. This was a temporary bleed from nasal mucosa. If he didn't lost consciousness, didn't vomit or didn't get disoriented with the fall, there is no need for further clinical care or emergency (ER) visit.
