What Causes Numbness And Shooting Nerve Pain In Foot?

Hello, I so hope you can help! On 12/31/14, I had a blood clot that hit the back of my leg causing severe nerve damage to my foot and leg. I have no feeling in the bottom of my foot except for the shooting nerve pain. It is as though a ball of fire is in the arch and other parts of it. The pain is tolerable during the day while I am up but when I go to bed at night, it s unbearable. Since this has happened, I have had 3 nights that I have slept 6 hours straight, other than that, I don t sleep over 1 hour at a time. My vascular surgeon prescribed Amitriptyline but that done NOTHING. I do have Diabetic Neuropathy and take Gabapentin for that. What can I do for the pain?
