What Causes Numbness In Toes Following Injection?

Last week I received an injection for my foot pain. The foot dr. told me I have Plantar Fasciitis. The pain originated from my heel to underneath my foot to where my toes begin. He first gave me an injection in my heel which somewhat relieved the heel pain a bit. The second visit, he gave me an injection in the top of my foot. What I have now noticed about a week later is that there is numbness on the side of my large toe.

Is this from the injection he gave me or did he somehow gave me the wrong shot in the wrong place. I am so anxious about this. I called him and he said he really doesn't know why it feels numb.
