What Causes Numbness On Left Side Of Face And Headaches?

Hi yesterday the left side of my face (mainly my cheek and under my eye) went numb and still is. It s not paralysis but feels like I ve had a local anaesthetic. Sometimes it feels a little tingling like the anaesthetic is wearing off. I suffer from headaches and migraines from neck pain but never experienced this. I m a 43 year old female.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of numbness on left side of face and headaches which seems to be due to inflammation of the nerve that supplies muscles of face. It could be due to infection of nerve due to viral infection.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do mouth stretching exercises such as blow in and out after closing nostrils. You should maintain hygiene. Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain. Start with physiotherapy. You should consult ortho and maxillofacial surgeon once for proper examination and start with proper course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory medications and vitamin supplement. Apply cold compresses every 4 hourly alternative with warm compresses.
