What Causes Numbness, Tingling, Burning, Throbbing In Big Toe For A Diabetic?

My Rt big toe is numb, tinkling, burning, throbbing all the time. The other toes have numbness sometimes. It gets worse after sitting in bed with legs outstretched. I place a pillow beneath my knees but it doesn't help. When I use the toilet both feet get numb, sometimes I fall down when trying to stand up to clean and wipe myself. I have a pinched nerve in SI and I'm diabetic, are these symptoms related to this problem? What can I do about it? What is gout?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Your problem may be due to peripheral neuropathy caused by longstanding uncontrolled diabetes or due to gout.
Gout results in pain, swelling and numbness of big toe and is due to deposition of uric acid crystals in toe joints.
Consult your doctor for diagnosing the problem.
Treatment involves
Control of blood sugar levels meticulously.
In case it is gout, then you need proper antigout medications.
Take VIT B12 and VIT D supplements.
Medicines like GABAPANTINE and PREGABLIN for pain.
Stopping alcohol and smoking,if any.
Thanks
