I have had a yellow to orange thick sticky vaginal discharge for about a week.no odour.but when i go to bathroom and wipe its there and staining my underwear..having trouble using my bowels which has never been a problem...some abdo discomfort now and then.Should i be concerned? I am 49 post menopausal. No period for over a year.I have 1 sexual partner for past 26 years.
Hello, greetings! Thanks for your query. I have read your history and I suspect you to have a situation called bacterial vaginosis or trichomoniasis. Bacterial vaginosis is a situation caused by the overgrowth of a bacteria called gardnerella. The symptoms include vaginal discharge, burning sensation and discomfort while passing urine. Trichomoniasis is caused by a parasite called Trichomonas Vaginalis. The symptoms include vaginal discharge with a fish-like smell, burning sensation while passing urine. For both these conditions, I prescribe my patients a drug called Flagyl. I suggest you to get a physical examination from a local gynaecologist and a vaginal discharge specimen to be examined under the microscope, so that you can be prescribed relevant drugs.
